february - HERBAL bath tea bags

Our world is filled with constant stimuli that demand our attention regardless of quarantine status. With the constant ebb and flow of changes, it’s more important than ever to support your nervous system with a multi-faceted approach.

By consuming a nourishing diet, living a balanced lifestyle, practicing inquiry, and taking herbs that support, tone, and nourish your nervous system, you will be well on your way to feeling grounded, calm, and nourished.

Winter also brings the downward energy of inertia, as the life-force of the trees return to their roots, and many animals go into hibernation. Us humans can likewise feel a sense of lethargy, congestion and sluggishness. Luckily, there are plant allies you can rely on to help lighten your spirit while you wait for the sun to come out and the snow to melt.

Aromatic medicine is a useful way to maintain a vibrant mood and enlivened state of mind while in the dead of winter (or during challenging times). Prepping your Celtic Sea Salt with your favorite essential oils can turn your bath into an intentional soak.

A warm relaxing bath can revitalize mind, body & spirit, and creating HERBAL BATH TEA BAGS is the perfect nourishing boost. Whether you wish to detox, sooth, revitalize or nourish… this February, we will create the perfect bath tea bags for you to enjoy.

We will use fresh & dried herbs, dried flowers, roots & powders for the tea bags; combining a variety of combinations or simply focusing on one purpose. This is all for you to decide, and for you to enjoy!

"By taking an active role in the process and preparation of our medicines and foods, we participate in our own wellness. In addition, tea is warming and soothing to the soul. It is as ancient as time itself, capturing the essence of fire, water and plant life. Like alchemy, it involves the mixing and brewing of the elements." - Rosemary Gladstar

The idea of putting tea in our bath water is not an original one… I got the idea from Kami McBride, and then created an experience for us to enjoy in an interactive (small) class setting. We start with a general understanding of the choices we will be making, and the order of things. Because we get to make three tea bags, it makes the choice of herbs flow a little easier.

You can have a cleansing bag filled with dandelion & nettle to coax the toxins out, and deliver a grounding, nourishing and cleansing vibe through your skin. I like to get some flowers in the mix to grow the vibrational essence of our plants, so maybe calendula to both sooth and heal your skin, and lavender to bring some aromatics to your senses, calm your mind and clear your thoughts. One could also focus solely on some healing flowers: rose, chamomile, calendula & lavender to help uplift your heart and spirit.

Your next bag could take on a more exhilarating combo like pine needles & rosemary; I like to think this is best done with fresh herbs, so the soak should be sooner than later. And then the another bag could be a blender full of experimentation… what herbs have been calling you?  What herbs are you intuitively called to?

The Celtic Sea Salt jar offers another way to build on your aromatics with the myriad of essential oils I have to choose from. How do you think the herbs should blend with the essential oils? This can go any of many different directions… double-down on the lavender to really sooth your nervous system, and travel into a meditation soak. Or take your senses up a notch and bring citrus to the forefront with bergamot, grapefruit & lemon. I like to save orange essential oil for my cinnamon & clove combo in my candles;  but you could stimulate your skin and mind if you so choose.

Per usual, I have simple cheat sheets to look through for ideas and combinations, and our groups have been the most wonderful and fun people to create with; we are never short on ideas.
