i didn’t break your heart…

“I DIDN’T BREAK YOUR HEART, I BROKE YOUR EXPECTATIONS.”

That statement carries a lot of weight. It suggests that heartbreak isn’t always about love lost, but about unmet expectations—what someone thought the relationship should be rather than what it actually is.

It shifts responsibility, implying that the other person’s pain comes from their own assumptions rather than intentional harm. In some cases, that’s fair—people project their desires onto others. But it might also be a way of avoiding accountability.

It is a bold, almost detached way of looking at things; one that is tricky to wrangle when reality at its core, is the response of the observer. Just because you have a concern doesn’t mean you are entitled to burden someone with it!

Truth statements can be brutal, but they are always real and setting honesty as your foundation is the best you can do for your sanity.  Add in some joy by being willing for things to be as they are, and you are well on the way to creating a beautiful life for oneself.

Life isn’t about ‘finding’ yourself,

Life is about ‘creating’ yourself.

Joy is being willing for things to be as they are.
